At Spencer Center we believe that participating in extracurricular activites/clubs help students navigate their world, build friendships, discover and explore their passions, and express their individuality, while assisting in learning the importance of planning and prioritizing time. The large majority of our clubs come directly from our students’ own interests and are developed by their efforts. Any Spencer Center student may start a new club, by petitioning the assistance of a Teacher Advisor.

ABC Fine Arts: Passport to the World
ABC Fine Arts Clubs are a free after-school opportunity for students to engage in hobbies with their friends.Students will uncover their own creativity through creating modern and historical works of art and exploring a variety of materials skills: drawing, painting, collage, sculpting, creativity.
Starts September 19 and runs through December 12

Brain Bowl

Wednesdays and matchesGrades 4-6Brain Bowl is a quiz competition held at the elementary level, where teams of students compete to answer questions on a wide range of topics, including history, science, literature, and pop culture. It is a competitive and intellectually stimulating event that tests participants' knowledge and quick thinking. It is a chance for Spencer students to compete against other schools and win it for the Wolfpack. -
Chess Club

Fridays: Grades 7-12Chess is offered for both Upper and Lower school students. If you are looking to expand your logical thinking skills or even just learn to play chess you should join. You will play against other schoolmates and learn different skills to be a better player. The program places trained chess instructors in elementary, middle, and high schools throughout Greater Cincinnati to teach the game to local students. CCPF empowers children by cultivating skills that will serve them throughout their lives: critical thinking, concentration, patience, and sportsmanship.Starts: Grade 3-6 September 15 / Grades 7-12 September 18

Futsal

Location: Evanston Recreation Center. Ages 7 - 15.Played on a gym floor, Futsal is fast pace, quick decisions, intense skills, tricks and thrills of soccer.For students ages 7 -15. Girl Scouts
The Girl Scouts Club is a well-established organization that empowers young girls to develop leadership skills and character through a wide range of activities and community service. Spanish Academy
Spencer Center's is pleased to offer Spanish language classes after school for the 2023-2024 school year! Students are immersed in the language so that they acquire the language similar to their first language. The focus is on understanding the spoken language, first attempts at speaks, and fun activities in grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure. As this is an enrichment program there is no "official" homework or tests.Starts: October 19th and runs for 20 weeks.
Tuition: The cost for the entire program is $220 and includes instruction and all materials. A payment plan is available, as well as a sibling discount, making it more affordable to participate!

Youth Choir
Cincinnati Youth Choir at Spencer Center: Spencer Center students (grades 3-7) have an incredible opportunity to be a part of the Cincinnati Youth Choir! The Cincinnati Youth Choir is an ensemble in residence at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) and will be offering a choir called Vivo Coro Spencer Center after school.Vivo Coro Spencer Center will rehearse on Thursdays from 4:00pm-5:00pm in the music room. We are looking for twenty participants to join our choir. Students participating in Vivo Coro Spencer Center will join other choirs from around the city in the Vivo Coro program as well as the Cincinnati Youth Choir resident choirs in a performance on Sunday, May 5th at CCM.

ABC Comic Illustration
ABC Fine Arts Clubs are a free after-school opportunity for students to engage in hobbies with their friends.
Discover drawing techniques as well as creative writing, with the goal of producing your own comic books and developing a unique voice. In this course, students will also aim to put together a student anthology by focusing on basic publishing and layout.

In STEM Bicycle Club, students make micro-adjustments to, and reverse engineer, a new bicycle and they continue to explore each specific bicycle system. The program culminates in the 3d Printers Showcase and STEM Bicycle Club Celebration which focus on celebrating student learning and success while tying principles learned in the club to STEM careers and opportunities.

Climate Club
If you live on the earth then this club is for you. During the Climate Clubvyou will learn about what is really going on on this planet. A climate club is an organized group of individuals dedicated to raising awareness about climate change, advocating for environmental policies, and taking actions to reduce their carbon footprint. Climate clubs often engage in activities like hosting educational events and advocating for sustainable practices to address the global climate crisis.

Cooking Improv Classes at La Soupe! Grades 7-12

*February 24, March 2, April 6, and April 20Cooking Improv has both a service and education element to the class. The service comes in preparing rescued produce for our transform chefs. The bulk of our work will go back into the production kitchen and contribute to the making of soups and meals for the community. The remaining portion of chopped produce is reserved for our students to work with and prepare a healthy dish for themselves.

Grades 7-12The drama club is a fun experience for students who are into the creative arts, specifically theatrics. It is an opportunity to get in your element and learn more about all things theatre. In Dungeons & Dragons club students come together to play, discuss, and enjoy the iconic tabletop role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons. This club offers a social space for members to create characters, embark on adventures, and engage in collaborative storytelling within the rich and immersive fantasy worlds of the game. You become more creative, more imaginative, and build problem solving skills. -

The curriculum for the district-wide initiative includes leadership development, anti-bullying, and conflict resolution. In addition to these weekly sessions, the girls are introduced to career pathways in STEM through a collaboration with The Christ Hospital. Once per month the girls attend mentoring sessions hosted by professional women who consist of a pool of community partners and local community organization leaders.

Men of M.O.R.E
Men Organized Respectful and Educated is a program for 9-12th graders. It is meant to help young men achieve success and make them academically thrive. It creates leaders out of young men. The M.O.R.E. Program nurtures academic success and strong character development among at-risk young men to promote measurable improvements in academic achievement, grade-level promotion, graduation rates, and college readiness. The M.O.R.E. program's monthly curriculum focuses on these topics: include financial literacy, leadership development, good citizenship, health and wellness, college and career awareness, social skills development, academic support, and community service.Starts: September 20

Music Production Club! Grades 7-8

Location: Tech labMusic Production Club will begin with a group lesson about specific aspects of the digital music making process, which includes beat making, and song writing. Students will be introduced to GarageBand recording software. Learn the foundational pieces of the recording program, and then work their way to create a full-fledged song or beat. Rising Leaders: Launch, Class of 2025

Launch is a 10 week group coaching program from Rising Leaders Cincinnati that helps students create a plan to succeed in life. Participants learn SMART Goals, life vision, and intentional action plans to achieve success for their life.
