• Overview

Riverview East Academy, a school for preschool to 12th-grade students, offers a college-preparatory high school where students receive a well-rounded education that prepares them for life after high school. As one of the few schools in the Tristate covering this preschool to 12th-grade range, Riverview East offers unique learning experiences. Students will build strong ties to the school and the community over the years.

Riverview East offers an environment where the school community works to ensure that all students succeed. The school continues to develop the necessary academic and social supports each student needs to achieve success and become a productive, responsible citizen.

Riverview’s 7th- and 8th-grade students learn in their own pods within the large building, have a separate lunch period and are offered opportunities to take high school courses for credit.

    Health Care Focus

Riverview East Academy offers preparation for advanced training in health care careers and exercise science, which leads to study at community colleges and four-year colleges and universities. Juniors and seniors interested in careers in nursing can participate in Riverview's nursing program. Successful completion of the program and passing required examinations will qualify students for employment as State Tested Nursing Assistants.

Students also can earn certifications in phlebotomy (blood work), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Patient Care Assistant or Physical Therapy Technician.

    • Classrooms feature technology to aid learning.
    • Full-time school counselor available.
    • Students wear uniforms to keep the focus on class work.
    • Students are separated by grade level in pods.

As one of CPS' first Community Learning Centers, Riverview East offers a strong community partnership program, with more than 20 local businesses, agencies and organizations assisting students, parents and teachers. Partner services include tutoring and incentive programs for students.

    Advisory

Advisory Teams are made up of a small group of students and a teacher. They are a place where students make plans: for school, for college, for their careers and for their futures. This is a safe time to talk about barriers and needs; to be serious, but to have fun, too. Advisories help students build academic and social skills by breaking down barriers, fostering relationships, strengthening listening skills and, most important, building trust.

    CPS' My Tomorrow Initiative

My Tomorrow is a new vision of education for CPS in which every student is prepared for the remarkable future racing straight at us.

    Content Standards

At CPS, we aim to ensure all of our students graduate from high school ready for the career paths of their choice. That's why all of our schools offer coursework that challenges and engages our students. We follow Ohio's Learning Standards to ensure our students at all grade levels build the skills and knowledge they need to be college and career ready.

    Gifted

CPS offers enrichment programs for students who are identified as gifted. Visit the CPS website for general information about the district's gifted programs. Learn about Cheviot School’s Gifted Academy.

    Monitoring Academics and Testing

Students in Cincinnati Public Schools are tested throughout the school year to determine knowledge and skill levels. These tests measure students’ achievement to determine strengths and weaknesses, so teachers can adjust instruction to meet students’ needs.

    Special Education

Special education and related services are offered to children ages three through twenty-one in public and non-public schools. Visit the CPS website to learn more about our programs and services.

    Third-Grade Reading Guarantee

Ohio's Third Grade Reading Guarantee aims to ensure that struggling young readers get the support needed to improve.

    Tutoring

Activities Beyond the Classroom provides support for our primary-grade students both during the day and after school. A team of qualified tutors meets with students in small groups to provide reading and math instruction. The lessons are tailored to each student’s needs.
