• Volunteer for CPS — Call for Parent and Partner Support!

    We are in need of parents/caregivers or partner volunteers! Help us ensure that students continue to learn in a safe, healthy and fun environment!

    Schools may need people to help out in classrooms, lunchrooms and on the playground, as well as volunteers to help in the office.

    Please contact your school’s office for more information on what they need!

    CPS Parents/Caregivers or Partners must have:

    • Current Local or FBI/BCI Background
    • District Provided Volunteer Badge

    Steps to becoming a Volunteer

    2. Complete/Submit Background Check
    3. School completes/submits the Badge Authorization Form
    4. Volunteer makes appointment to get a CPS Badge
    5. School contacts volunteers to coordinate day(s) of support

    How to Submit/Obtain Local Background Check

    If a CURRENT CPS volunteer or if you have had a Local or FBI/BCI Background Check within the past 6 months:

    • Bring your Local or FBI/BCI Background Check to your Badge Appointment at:
      • Cincinnati Public Schools, Education Center Security Office (2651 Burnet Ave, 45219 Hours: Monday-Thursday 8 a.m.– Noon and  1–3 p.m.)

    If a NEW CPS volunteer or if you need a local background check:

    • Complete a Local Background Check by visiting:
      • Hamilton County Justice Center, (1000 Sycamore Street, Room 100, 45202; Ph. (513) 946-6600; Hours: Monday-Friday 8 a.m.– 3 p.m.)
      • Please make sure to bring a valid Driver’s License/State Issued ID with you to obtain your background check
      • Note: There is a fee
    • Bring your Local Background Check to your Badge Appointment at:  
      • Cincinnati Public Schools, Education Center Security Office (2651 Burnet Ave, 45219; Hours: Monday-Thursday 8 a.m.– Noon and 1–3 p.m.)

    Background checks are available at two locations: 

    Cincinnati Public Schools, Education Center, 2651 Burnet Ave, 45219, Corryville
    Hours: Monday through Thursday 9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. & 1:30–3 p.m.

    1. No appointment necessary - walk-ins welcome – Monday through Thursday (not Fridays)
    2. What to bring: State ID or Driver’s License, and payment type.
    3. Issues BCII and FBI only. Credit card or exact cash (no change available) for BCII and FBI — $50,for BCII only — $25, for FBI only — $30. ($5 local background check not offered.)
      For renewals, only the FBI is needed if you have continually lived in Ohio for the past five years. New employees and non-Ohio residents need both.
    4. Note: It takes up to 30 days for results to be returned – when available, you will be notified via email (check spam/junk).

    Hamilton County Justice Center, 1000 Sycamore Street, Rm. 100, 45202, downtown, Ph. (513-946-6600).
    Hours: Monday-Friday 7 a.m.–3 p.m.

    1. Local for Hamilton County residents is $5. They are available from 7 a.m. - 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, with immediate results.
    2. BCI State of Ohio is $32. They are available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., 7 days a week, with results available in 2-7 weeks. 
    3. FBI Nationwide is $36. They are available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., 7 days a week, with results available in 2-7 weeks.
    4. *CASH ONLY. Customers must bring exact change if coming between the hours of 3p.m. - 7 p.m., as the office cannot make change at that time. 

    How to Obtain CPS Volunteer Security Badge

    • To schedule an appointment, go to:

        • Please bring with you your:
        • Current Local or FBI/BCI Background AND
        • State Issued ID/Driver's License
    • The Security Office is located on the second floor of the Education Center through the Employee Care Center (Enter the middle doors and check in at the front desk); Security Office Hours: Monday–Thursday, 8 a.m.–Noon and 1–3 p.m.
