Dater Montessori Gators Crowned 2023 Brain Bowl Tournament Champs

More than 100 elementary school students put their skills to the test in the 2023 CPS Elementary Brain Bowl Tournament. 

Students from Covedale School, Dater Montessori School, Fairview-Clifton German Language School, Hyde Park School, Kilgour School, Pleasant Ridge Montessori School and Spencer Center for Gifted and Exceptional Students competed in the academic quiz-style tournament. 

Throughout the year, students in grades four through six participate in the Brain Bowl after-school program. Students compete against one another as they are quizzed on various topics. 

"It is always inspiring to see the hard work and dedication that our schools put into Brain Bowl as they compete and represent their communities in the district. At one point during the tournament, it felt like 'March Madness' as I saw our Brain Bowl students expressing tears of joy after a thrilling victory,” Brent Langhorne, CPS Elementary Athletics Coordinator, said. “As we move forward, we are excited to see continued growth in the CPS Brain Bowl program."

Ultimately, the Dater Montessori Gators were crowned 2023 Brain Bowl Tournament Champions.
